Historical Consecration in the Middle East

"February 3, 2023, the Episcopal Consecration of the new Syrian Catholic Archbishop of Mosul (Iraq), Mor Qusay Mubarak Abdullah (Younan) Hano took place.

The ceremony was presided over by the Patriarch of the Syrian Catholic Church, His Beatitude Ignatius Youssef III Younan, at the Church of the Immaculate Conception in Qaraqosh, one of the most important Christian centers in the Nineveh Plain, in northern Iraq.

The event is historic because it marks Christ's victory over Jihadist terror, as just a few years ago Mosul was the capital of Daesh, the self-proclaimed "Islamic State"; the beautiful church was destroyed by jihadist fanatics and subsequently erected by Christians.

The consecration was of great importance that archbishops and Catholic bishops of Chaldean and Assyrian as well as "Orthodox" sites, military, dozens of religious and thousands of believers arrived.

Let us ask the Good Lord to bless the new Archbishop and the Church so that in those lands whose Christian Faith has heroically resisted the Light of Christ will shine.
