Allen West and Rush Limbaugh are wrong - Americans have a greater obligation than Secession

On Thursday and Friday, as the Texas Lawsuit, joined by 22 states, was presented and dismissed by the U.S. Supreme Court, several prominent conservatives took to the air to discuss secession. Political and social turmoil are approaching a point of no return as 40% of Americans believe that a civil war is possible and 47% of Americans believe that the Democrats likely stole the election by voter fraud and violating both State and U.S. Constitutions.
Chairman of the Texas GOP, Allen West, former Lieutenant Colonel (U.S. Army) and U.S. Congressman (R-FL), published a statement where calls for a secession and "union" of "law-abiding states." His office later doubled-down by posting the statement on Twitter:
Below is Chairman Allen West’s statement regarding the decision by the Supreme Court to dismiss Texas’ constitutionally legitimate and critical lawsuit.
“The Supreme Court, in tossing the Texas lawsuit that was joined by seventeen states and 106 US congressman, has decreed that a state can take unconstitutional actions and violate its own election law. Resulting in damaging effects on other states that abide by the law, while the guilty state suffers no consequences. This decision establishes a precedent that says states can violate the US constitution and not be held accountable. This decision will have far-reaching ramifications for the future of our constitutional republic. Perhaps law-abiding states should bond together and form a Union of states that will abide by the constitution.”
The statement concluded with an affirmation that, "the Texas GOP will always stand for the Constitution and for the rule of law even while others don’t."
Rush Limbaugh, on his national radio talk-show, asserted that "perhaps a fissure in the U.S. was inevitable, given the chronic disagreements between conservatives and liberals."
“I actually think — and I’ve referenced this, I’ve alluded to this a couple of times because I’ve seen others allude to this — I actually think that we’re trending toward secession,” Limbaugh said on his show Wednesday.
“It can’t go on this way," Rush continued. "There cannot be a peaceful coexistence of two completely different theories of life, theories of government, theories of how we manage our affairs. We can’t be in this dire a conflict without something giving somewhere along the way.”
This secession talk has spilled over into different outlets, including the Catholic world, dominating the first half of "The Rundown" with Restoring the Faith Media and guest Dr. Taylor Marshall.
So, what is the correct patriotic and Catholic response to this socio-political crisis and recent call for secession?
Americans, particularly those of good will, have a duty to "defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic...[and, to] bear true faith and allegiance to the same."
Have all Americans sworn this oath? Not publicly, but by accepting citizenship to the Republic, all Americans have a lawful and moral obligation to fulfill it. This obligation was acquired in blood by the generations before us, preserved by the gifts and liberties received by us, and demanded by the unborn citizens who are yet to be.
That being said, secession would not only be the easy way out of the conflict, but it would be a treasonous one.
President Abraham Lincoln, in his address to the U.S. Congress on December 1, 1862, closed with a most memorable statement on the trials of the time:
“The dogmas of the quiet past are inadequate to the stormy present…fellow citizens, we cannot escape history…The fiery trial through which we pass will light us down, in honor or dishonor, to the latest generation. We say we are for the Union. The world will not forget that we say this. We know how to save the Union…In giving freedom to the slave, we ensure freedom to the free–honorable alike in what we give, and what we preserve. We shall nobly save, or meanly lose, the last, best hope of earth.”
Since the dawn of the American Civil War, the call to "save the Union" has never been so desperately needed. While the Union today may not suffer from the enslavement of peoples by chains and whips, this Republic is victimized by a tyranny that has enslaved our cities and states with the murder of millions of unborn, the infringement of religious liberties, the destruction of the family, the subversion of intellectual thought and debate, the prohibition of free and open commerce, the usury by taxes and currency manipulation, conspiracy to usurp and violate State and U.S. Constitutions, the support for and financing of domestic terrorist organizations in the United States, the intent to commit voter fraud and break election laws to circumvent the 2020 General Election, and the commitment to coordinate foreign interference for that outcome.
It is clear, by our obligation to defend the Constitution of the United States and preserve the Union, secession is not the answer. The answer is to engage and defeat all traitors and enemies of the Union, whether that be communists, socialists, progressives or any other deceitful name. Liberate our cities and states, and "save the Union."
In Christ Crucified and the Most Victorious Heart of Jesus.
